First Lesbian couple wed in Australia.
Lauren Price and Amy Laker were the first Lesbian couple to marry on 16th December, in Sydney, Austalia.
Australian couples usually have to wait 30 days before being granted a Wedding Licence in Australia but Lauren and Amy were given special dispensation as they had relatives travelling from Wales in the UK.
The couple have been engaged for 2 years, after Lauren proposed to Amy on top of the Eifel Tower. They were married in front of 65 guests in a beautiful garden ceremony in Camden, South Sydney.
Lauren was quoted as saying, "For us being legally married is more about automatically being next of kin..because we want children, so it makes that clearer. 'This is my child's other mother, my wife.'"
Another couple were married later the same day. For the same reason of relatives travelling from across the world, Amy and Elise McDonald were allowed to marry in Victoria. Amy's parents had travelled from Vietnam and her siblings from the United Arab Emirates.
