We've come a long way since the days when women were used just as eye candy for the viewer, or as the submissive and supportive wife of the plot's main character.
Over the last few years, I've noticed, if ever so slight, a positive upsurge in strong bad-arsed women, not just playing characters instumental to the plot but actually playing the central character. It's also refreshing, as I remember a time it was unheard of, to see many central characters being portrayed as lesbian or bi-sexual. Here is a list of our favourite lesbian characters, some in shows airing now and some from dramas past. See how many you can remember...
