In an Annoucement, Tegan and Sara said:

"From day one we wanted the proceeds to go to our newly-launched Tegan and Sara Foundation, which raises money for self-identified women and girls in the LGBTQ community. With that intention set, we asked 14 artists who were either outspoken allies of the LGTBQ community or LGBTQ themselves to each cover a song from The Con. We encouraged each artist to approach the song they were covering in any fashion they saw fit. Their inspiration could come from the original record or The Con Demos, our first home recordings that were released after The Con came out. All the artists agreed to donate their time and energy to the project and their labels all agreed to waive their fees as well."

Tegan and Sara Quin are identical twin sisters who are both lesbians. Born in Canada on Sept 19th 1980, they have been singer/songwriters since 1995 and released their first album in 1997. Their early work was very much indie/rock based.

2007    Their fifth studio album 'The Con' was released, bringing a more melodic and fresher sound, with catchy songs such as 'Back in your Head', Hop on a Plane ' and  'The Con'. The album was a commercial success, charting at No 4 in Canada and No 34 in the American Billboard Charts.

2012    'Heartthrob' the duo's 7th, and first pop album was released. It was an even bigger success, receiving critical acclaim and debuting at No3 on the American Billboard Chart. The singles 'Closer' and 'I was a Fool' both reached No 1 and Tegan and Sara won 3 Juno Awards for Best Group, Best ALbum and Best Single (for 'Closer').

2014 Tegan and Sara were awarded the GLAAD Media Award for 'Outstanding Music Artist'.

2016  'Love You To Death' released with much critical acclaim and includes the rather splendid 'Stop Desire', 'I'm Dying to Know' and 'BWU'.

Openly gay from a young age, Tegan and Sara are strong advocates for the LGBT community, supporting LGBT causes and by setting up the Tegan and Sara Foundation for LGBT women and girls.

In 2014, they supported the 'It Got Better' Campaign by talking about their sexual feelings when they were teenagers, and how it felt coming out.
