Although at first hesitant to portray her sexuality openly in this vid, Ria is glad she did and one critic at the time declared it “a rare example of a music video where a lesbian relationship doesn’t exist solely for the titillation of straight men”

Ria told Hollywood Life in 2017 "I feel awkward like everyone else does, but not because of my gayness. When I think about it, my music is on pop radio in Canada, and when I was growing up, I don’t know that I heard gay artists on pop radio. If I did, they would hide the lyrics. So my second video, I made it really gay. I can do it. You might as well do it if you can."

Tegan and Sara were so impressed with Ria's musical style, they asked her to join them on their 'Love You to Death' tour and Ria also teams up with Tegan on the ballad 'Broken' on her latest EP.

'Red Light'

The inspiration for this video came from Ria herself once being dumped at a set of traffic lights. The two lovers at a crossroads in the Vid are played by real-life couple Kristen Griesbach and Bronwyn Hope.
