Lisa Dahlkvist - Sweden

The 30 year old Swedish Midfielder has accrued over 130 caps playing for Sweden's women's National Football Team, and played int the 2011 and 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups.

Dahlqvist scored a penality against the USA in the 2011 World Cup leading to a a 2-1 win for Sweden.

She also played for Sweden in the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics.

 

 

In 2014, Dahlkvist and her new partner , Jessica Danielsson, welcomed their daughter, Penny into the world and at Penny's baptism in June, 2015, the couple surprised their guests by marrying at the same time.

She said at the time, "It was a great day, we had talked for a long time about getting married and feeling this was a great time when family and friends were still together."

Dahlkvist came out as a lesbian in 2008, saying "It has been only natural to be with the woman I love. For me it's about the person, I do not think that I fall in love with a sex".

 

Her and her partner at the time, Camilla, had just welcomed their daughter, Moa.

Michelle Heyman - Australia

29 year old Australian Heyman currently plays for Canberra United.

In 2009, she won the Golden Boot award for most goals scored during the League season and the Julie Dolan Medal for League player of the year.

She also plays for the National Team and was in the 2015 FIFA women's World Cup and 2016 Olympic squads.

Heyman has been in a relationship with the stunning May Yousif for two years and they are always openly affectionate with each other.

She recently wrote in Player's Voice,

"I’ve always been fine with it. I’ve never tried to hide it. I ‘came out’ publicly in a women in sport article several years ago because I was encouraged to do so, but that was no big deal to me. It wasn’t a revelation. Everybody knew that I was out and proud."

Heyman came out when she was 10 and was the only openly gay Australian athlete at the 2016 Olympic Games. 

She was named the inaugural winner of the LGBT Sports Personality of the Year in 2017.

Erin McLeod - Canada

Canadian McLeod, 34, is veteran goalkeeper for the Canadian National Women's team, making 120 appearances.

She has played in 3 FIFA Women's World Cups and two Olympics, including the 2012 Games where Canada took the Bronze Medal.

McLeod came out as a lesbian in 2014 during a CBC interview. It was following the 2014 Sochi Olympics and Russia's gay propaganda laws. She was one of a group of athletes who called for a change in the language of the Olympic Charter and host-city contract to include non-discrimination of sexual-orientation. 

 

"I e-mailed my family and said I was going to come out publicly, because I couldn't imagine not being able to hold my partner after winning an Olympic medal; I wouldn't be anywhere without her support and love," 

 

In 2015, McLeod married team mate, Ella Masar in Vancouver. They currently live in Sweden, where they play for FC Rosengard.

The couple host a web show 'The Erin and Ella Show' where they advertise upcoming matches.

They also share tweets about their life together.

Ella Masar - USA

Soccer forward and full-back Masar, 31, currently plays for Swedish team FC Rosengard. Prior to this, she played for Houston Dash and Chicago Red Stars.

She has also made one appearance for the USA National Women's Soccer Team in 2009.
