And we don't have to wait for a slow build up in this series as Black Lightning's daughter Anissa is already in bed with a flame in Episode 2, which aired this week.
The eldest daughter of Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning), Anissa, played by actress Nafessa Williams, has superpowers of her own. She is able to render herself bulletproof and can create massive shockwaves when stomping on the ground. She decides to use these superpowers to fight crime and boy, can she kick arse.
The first black female super hero in the first black super hero series on TV will also be getting a love interest in the form of bartender and half Amazonian Grace Choi, who will be played by Pretty Little Liars' Chantal Thuy.
