The 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards takes place next Saturday in Los Angeles and this year there are more nominations for LGBT actresses than ever before.
Let's take a look at our hopefuls for this year.

Best Drama Actress
The gorgeous Evan Rachel Wood has been nominated for her starring role as Dolores Abernathy in HBO's Westworld. After already picking up the Critics Choice and Satelitte Awards for best actress this year, I'm crossing my fingers that she'll complete a hat-trick.

Best Comedy Actress
The 78 year old veteran actress Tomlin, who already has several Emmy Awards under her belt, is nominated for her role as Frankie Bergstein in the Netflix original series Grace and Frankie, in which she stars alongside Jane Fonda and Martin Sheen.

Supporting Actress in Drama Series
Wiley is nominated for playing one of The Handmaiden's Tale's main characters, Moira. It would be a double coo for our community if a Lesbian actress wins the Emmy for playing a Lesbian character. Come on Wiley!

Outstanding Supporting Actress in Comedy Series
One of America's favourite comedians and impressionists, McKinnon, won this Emmy Award last year for her regular performances on Saturday Night Live and has a good chance of repeating the success this year. She is the first openly
'lesbian' cast member of the show.

Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series
Lena Waithe, who stars as Denise in Master of None has been nominated, with Aziz Ansari, for writing the Master of None episode 'Thanksgiving'. She is the first black woman ever to be nominated in this catergory.

Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series
Purser, who came out as bisexual on Twitter this year has been nominated for her guest role as Barbara Holland in Netflix's 'Stranger Things'. Even though only a small role, Purser owned it and gained international attention.

Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program
Viceland's 'Gaycation' hosted by Ellen Page was also nominated last year. Let's hope for a win this year as the show explores LGBT cultures around the world, increasing our visibility.
