Belle Brockhoff - Snowboarder
Brockhoff came out as a lesbian prior to competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics, held in Sochi.
She was protesting against Putin's anti-gay laws and told ABC news that,
"I want to be able to be who I am, be proud of who I am and be proud of all the work that has gotten me to the Olympics and not have to deal with this kind of a law.”
She is a campaigner for Athlete Ally, which is a group that stands for equality and works to end transphobia and homophobia in sport.
Despite rupturing a knee ligament in December, Brockhoff will be competing in the Games.
This will be the Australian's 2nd Olympics after crashing out of the 2014 Sochi Semi-finals after a collision with another competitor.
