Brittany Bowe - Speedskating
American Brittany Bowe began her sporting career as a inline skater, setting world records for speed and winning 8 gold medals in championships.
She then switched to Basketball, playing at Florida Atlantic University.
But watching the 2010 Winter Olympics inspired her to switch to Speedskating. She competed in the 2014 Sochi Games but her and the rest of the US Team's performance was quite poor and she came home without a medal.
'Freak Accident'
In July 2016, Bowe collided with a teammate on the ice and she suffered post-concussion symptoms every day for nearly 18 months, which caused dizziness and fainting spells and nearly jeopardised her chance of completing in the 2018 Olympics.
"Same passion, same drives, same goals."
Bowe has been dating Dutch Speedskater Manon Kammina for nearly 3 years. They first met at a World Cup Race at Heerenveen and began dating a few months later.
"It's nice being with somebody that has the same passion, same drive, same goals," Bowe explained, "It's obiviously difficult living on different sides of the world. But we're focused on our goal. She's trying to make her team, I'm trying to make my team. So it just works out."
